After joining the Facebook group "Reverse Vampires", I've been inspired to start buying music again!

I purchased:

Muse - Absolution

I've heard this before and really enjoyed it. Time to own it. Muse is a British rock band with some solid riffs, distortion, and lyrics. The general tone is rough and dark which I enjoy.

Just recently heard of this musician, though I've enjoyed downtempo electronica for some time. I think the album which caught my attention was different, so I'm still getting used to this self-titled recording, but it sounds good so far.

Eminem is back with the first single on off of his next cd titled Recovery. This one takes on a more serious tone which is in contrast to the majority of his last LP. I definitely think this is when he’s at his best.

His less than serious songs that take shots at celebrities and such are fun, but when they take up the majority of the cd it becomes a bit much. I hope we see some more material on Recovery along the lines of “Lose Yourself”, “Way I am” and so fourth.

Lupe Fiasco "Dumb It Down"

Lupe Fiasco follows in the footsteps of artists like Mos Def and Talib Kweli in an attempt to bring conscious rap to the forefront of the industry. It's still largely dominated by materialism but I'm glad Lupe is doing his thing and getting people to notice. It would be nice to bring hip hop completely back to a time when lyrical content took precident over a catchy beat.

I first heard of Grieves while at a Cunninlynguists concert a few months back. He played before them and completely tore it up.

He's a skinny white kid who looks like he would be more at home in a punk band or as a professional skateboarder. But if I may use the age old saying, don't judge a book by its cover. He's a rapper as good as they come. His music oozes with passion and personal honesty. It's been a while since I've come across an artist who I could really relate too this much on a personal level.

Jay-Z "Moment of Clarity"

Jay-Z hit the music scene in 1996 with his debut album entitled Reasonable Doubt. He has against all odds stayed completely relevant ever since. Relevant is a vast understatement actually, he has pretty much been at the forefront of Rap ever since. Still releasing high quality music with lyrics that most rappers could only dream of competing with. This is coming from me, a person who is critical of mainstream Rap and its over commercialization and lack of passion. He's one of the best rappers alive, mainstream, underground, whatever.

"Moment of Clarity" on the Black Album is one of my favorite tracks by him. Like the title suggests it's him cutting through the bull crap and addressing criticisms and opening up about his life.

House Music is Awesome!

As a rule I don’t really dance, but House music gets me to as close to wanting to dance as I’m likely to get. It’s very base heavy with a lot of techno/electronic sounding beats. I’m actually not sure what the difference between Techno and House is, I don’t know if maybe House music is a type of Techno or what. I always picture that rave scene from blade when I listen to stuff like this.
