My wife and I just went to the FPAC Open Galleries to see our friends Lara Loutrel and Raziel Panic.
Razi and I had a great conversation about weblogs, social network, and all that brew ha-ha. He's been writing and publishing music with his band, You Shriek, and I was curious to learn more about his involvement with MySpace and YouTube, and whether those sites have been an effective way for their fans to connect with the band.
In turn, he was curious about how I've been working with blogs and what I've found out in my adventures and mis-adventures. We both agreed that sites like Technorati aren't effecting in trying to assemble some sort of social networking through the islands of quality independent blogs out there.
Technology like RSS, OpenID, XFN, and a "web of trust" will help achieve what I think we were talking about. It would be great to have the ability to connect with other people and relay information in an open and distributed manner, but the technology just isn't there yet.
Also, check out the spies on you shriek - episode 4: typical kik and bass The entire series is great and take a little digging to find, but I think you'll enjoy it. Lots of cool electronic music gizmos in the works. :-)

The blogging world is becoming huge with artists from all aspects of the entertainment industry. A lot of entertainers use myspace blogs to keep their fans up to date on their projects, tour dates, release dates, etc. I know its becoming a popular practice for directors to keep a daily blog when they are shooting a new movie to let the public know how its coming along.
