Led Zeppelin

The big news as of late is the reunion of Led Zeppelin. Personally, I love Led Zeppelin. One of my favorite memories as a teenager was hearing "Ramble On" for the first while driving around aimlessly with my buddies. I still like listening to their music, but in general I'm not crazy about reunions and reunion concerts.

To me, such events are simply a sign of how the music industry is broken and in bad need of reinvention. I don't know how to fix it, but I know its broken. I should also add that I'm not sure if its fixable, especially with the way copyright law has expanded as of late. There are some things that just can't be expressed without modifying an experience, and unfortunately if that experience is of a piece of music which is covered by copyright, then most likely that expression can't be published.

It is possible that new artists may embrace open licenses for their music, but who knows? Some have started, will others follow?
