I find that using iTunes is a great way of discovering music you would otherwise never have heard of. I mean they have pretty much every cd ever recorded by any artist. Saracasm obviously, but honestly nine times out of ten if I go looking for a musician on i-tunes I can find them. No matter how far removed from the mainstream they may be. It just shows you how tight a grip Apple has on the digital music industry. Everybody wants a piece of the pie.
Anyways, getting back to the topic at hand. For example, say I like the White stripes. I’ll punch that into the i-Tunes search bar and that will give me a slew of other similar artists another tab. That may lead me to another lesser know band, then go from that band to an even smaller artist, do this until your blue in the face if you so choose.
After I have found a musician that I like, I will click on the list of all of the artists songs and have i-Tunes sort them by popularity in order to decide which songs I like the most. You can find all sorts of new music this way. There’s no telling how far down the rabbit hole you can go. It’s always cool when you discover some new talent who has almost no radio or television exposure but then you meet another person who is also a fan of them. You can tell people really respect music when they outside the realms pop culture and discover something new.
