I’ve only heard this one song from Asher Roth, but to be honest it’s kind of hard to take him seriously. His lyrics are very bland and he comes off looking like a shallow, lighthearted clone of Eminem. Bare in mind I find this song incredibly catchy and likable, but I would also say the same thing about ice ice baby. And I consider Vanilla Ice to about as credible a rapper as say Shaquille O’Neal.
He’s not terrible or anything, but if this is as good as he’s going to get, he might as well enjoy his 15 minutes of fame and join the rest of the one hit wonders. I can probably name ten white rappers who deserve a legitimate shot at fame over him, but I think what we have here is a case of appealing to the lowest common denominator.
