Aside from MC Lyte, 'Lil Kim and Missy Elliott female rappers are a rare breed in what is mostly a male dominated music genre. Fortunately I've had the pleasure of discovering the music of Jean Grae, Eternia, and Psalm One. They're not R&B singers who throw a rap verse in here and there, they're strictly hip hop through and through.
It baffles me that the three of them are still considered underground artists. All of them have more than enough talent to throw down with the boys. In fact they're better than the majority of the mainstream.
