50 Cent Before I Self Destruct

I’ve always liked Fifty Cent.  Sure he’s cocky as hell, but what rapper isn’t.  His first LP was a borderline classic in my opinion.  His hood tales talking about his infamous shooting and various run ins with the law on his first cd seemed genuine, but after he blew up a lot of his stuff became overly commercial and less of what made him famous in the first place.  He was stuck doing ridiculous songs like Candy Shop and Magic Stick.  Sure he still had his share of true rap songs, but it all seemed like he was just going threw the motions rather than truly rapping for the love.

Luckily Before I self destruct is a return to form for Fifty.  Most of the songs this time around hit hard with clever gangster lyricism that he is known for.  The beats are awesome with typical Dr. Dre gold.  I don’t think the production has been this solid since Get Rich Or Die Tryin’.

I don’t see him gaining back the insane levels of popularity that he had a few years back, but this release should please his true fans and prove he’s still relevant.
