I would either be lying to you or very naive if I told you a lot of rap doesn't glorify violence and dealing drugs and so forth. I'm not judging these rappers or saying they shouldn't be aloud to do so because I do in fact listen to a lot of it. It's just the way it is, a fact. I'm smart enough to take it all with a grain of salt and differentiate between right and wrong.
The Saga is a very deep and heartfelt song by Cormega. If you've ever wondered about the violence and crime behind a lot of Rap music, Cormega puts you in his shoes with this one. He's not glorifying his actions he's simply explaining why he does the things he does. You gotta love the beautiful piano loop the song is set to and the lyrics just further enhance the humanity and feeling expressed in this track. Very reminiscent of Changes by 2pac.
Cormega is a very talented underground rapper. He has had brushes with mainstream. He was friends with Nas, then they had beef, but have since patched things up which is always good to see. If you like this I would check out his full length LPs.
